மத் 5: 17-19 முழுமையை நோக்கி… திருவிவிலியத்தை இரண்டாகப் பிரித்தோமென்றால் அது (1) பழைய ஏற்பாடு, (2) புதிய ஏற்பாடு. பழைய ஏற்பாட்டை இரண்டாகப் பிரித்தோமென்றால், (1) முதல் ஐந்து புத்தகங்களான தோரா, இவை அனைத்தும் திருச்சட்டங்களைப் பற்றியும் அவற்றை நாம் எவ்வாறு கடைபிடிக்க வேண்டும் என்பது பற்றியும் எடுத்துரைக்கின்றது. (2) மற்ற அனைத்தையும் இறைவாக்குகளலாக (பல உட்பிரிவுகள் இருந்தாலும்) எடுத்துக் கொள்ளலாம். ஆனால் இவையனைத்திலும் ஏதோ ஒன்று குறையிருப்பதாகவும், முழுமையைப் பெறுவதற்காக காலம் காலமாகக் காத்திருப்பதையுமே நாம் அனைவரும் அறிந்ததே. இந்த நிறைவைக் கொடுப்பவரே இயேசு. அவரது படிப்பினைகள் அனைத்தும் பழைய ஏற்பாட்டோடு இணையும் பொழுதே, ஒரு முழுமையும் நிறைவும் பெறுகிறது. இந்த நிலையை அறிந்து கொள்வது வெறும் முதல் படிநிலைதான்.
